Walk with me

“Walk With Me” was written as an anthem to sing when a group of us from the choir at Colyton Parish Church did a Three Peaks Challenge in July 2017. We did it with a twist, because we sang a service in a church in each area – Duncansburgh Macintosh Church in Fort William, Wasdale Head Parish Church and St Peris’ Church, Nant Peris. We embarked on our challenge to raise awareness and money for Young Minds, in memory of a boy of the parish who tragically took his own life shortly after his 15th birthday.

It has touched a lot of people in the relatively short time since it was written. If you sing it at a service, please tell the story and encourage the congregation to support Young Minds, who do such important work for the mental health of young people – or any other similar organisation you might have in your area.

In the original text the refrain occurs at the beginning and then after each verse. In this version I have just included it at the beginning, after the third verse and at the end, but you are free to include it as many times as you like – you could even pause for reflection after each refrain and then restart with the next verse.

This needs a soloist (or you can have different ones for each verse: we usually have a soprano for verses 1,3 and 5 and a tenor for 2 and 4).
A donation will be made to Young Minds for every time this is downloaded.
Kevin Mayhew, who control the copyright on the words, have generously waived any charge in view of the cause.
